Scientists have found a plant product that can suppress COVID-19

Researchers from the Institute of Molecular Virology at the University of Ulm Medical Center announced the discovery of natural products that are able to suppress up to 97 % of the pathogens of coronavirus infection in the body. A preprint of the article about the work of the scientists is available on the bioRxiv portal.

Scientists noted that respiratory viruses first infect a person’s throat. Researchers have found out that chokeberry and pomegranate juices, as well as green tea, have a virucidal effect.

According to the experts, chokeberry suppresses the activity of coronavirus by 97 %, while pomegranate juice and green tea by 80 %.

Natural juices and green tea, according to scientists, are capable of weakening COVID-19, because they create an acidic environment and contain plant polyphenols that have an adverse effect on the virus.
This study has yet to be evaluated by the scientific community.
